  • [By Lawrence Meyers]

WFM stock trades around $52, with just under $3 per share in cash. At estimates of $1.68 in earnings per share for FY14 and projections for 17% in long-term growth, and perhaps a 20% premium for its cash flow, I would assign it a fair value around $34. If WFM stock is unfortunate enough to fall that low, I’d absolutely buy around there.

In contrast to Oracle Corp., we discover that Brown-Forman with a significantly lower earnings growth rate is currently trading at one of its highest valuations ever. When you consider that this company trades at a PE ratio of 23.3 versus the S&P 500 at a PE ratio of 13.7 or against Oracle with a PE ratio of only 12.1, we can see a wide variation in stock valuations of individual stocks as compared to the S&P 500 index.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Bryan Murphy]

It's certainly not as big as Berry Plastics Group Inc. (NYSE:BERY). It's not even as big as Tredegar Corporation (NYSE:TG). There's one big way AEP Industries (NASDAQ:AEPI) can certainly compete head-on with BERY and TG right now, however... as an investment opportunity. Thanks to the bullish bump AEPI gave us last week, a long-standing selloff has been revered, and there's a whole lot of ground to make up.

Orbotech Ltd. was founded in 1981 and is headquartered in Yavne, Israel.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By John Emerson]

AOI companies had little in the way of competition since they held a specialty niche and their systems were protected by patents. Years of R&D would be required to unseat them by way of technological superiority; therefore it made more sense for a larger company to assimilate them should they wish to enter the AOI sector. That said, CAMT was much smaller than its archrival Orbitech (ORBK) in the PCB AOI sector; thus their key to long term growth lied in their penetration into the rapidly expanding semiconductor AOI sector. In that area, their main completion was August Semiconductor.

Top Japanese Stocks To Own For 2014: Guggenheim S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF (RSP)

Rydex S&P Equal Weight ETF (the Fund) seeks to replicate as closely as possible the performance of the S&P Equal Weight Index (the Index). The Index is the equal-weighted version of the S&P 500, which is a measure of the large-capitalization stocks of 500 major corporations selected by Standard & Poor, a division of The McGraw Hill Company, Inc., for their market size, liquidity and industry group representation. The Index is developed by Standard & Poor's in collaboration with Rydex Investments. The Index utilizes quarterly rebalancing to maintain its equal-weight stance.

The Fund uses a passive management strategy to track the performance of the Index. The Fund invests in substantially all of the securities in the Index in approximately the same proportions as in the Index. The Fund's investment advisor is Rydex Investments.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Thomas Sobon]

    (3) From the menu on top, compare your stock with the S&P Equal Weight Index (RSP) or the S&P Industrial index (SPY). That will show you how your stock has been performing in comparison to the overall market. You want your stock to be a leader in the market and not a laggard.

  • [By Dan Caplinger]

    Guggenheim S&P 500 Equal-Weight (NYSEMKT: RSP  )
Equal-weight ETFs own the same stocks as regular S&P 500-tracking funds, but with a catch: rather than weighting the amount it invests in each stock by market capitalization, the Guggenheim ETF has roughly equal dollar amounts invested in all 500 of its holdings. Lately, that has produced better returns than the overall S&P, because of weak performance from the S&P's largest companies. With an expense ratio of 0.40%, the Guggenheim offering isn't the cheapest ETF available, but if you like simplicity and think that smaller companies are poised to outperform their larger counterparts, then the equal-weight ETF may be the right pick for you.

  • [By John Waggoner]

A fund that's weighted by market cap tends to do best in a concentrated market that is, when one stock or group of stocks excels. The Guggenheim Investments S&P 500 Equal Weighted ETF (ticker: RSP) has gained 24.3% this year, outpacing the cap-weighted S&P 500. The main reason could well be Apple, which has lost 6.8% this year, including reinvested dividends.

Top Gas Utility Companies To Invest In Right Now

Top Gas Utility Companies To Invest In Right Now: Propell Technologies Group Inc (PROP)

Propell Technologies Group, Inc., incorporated on February 04, 2008, offers enhanced oil recovery technology and services. These services are offered through its wholly owned subsidiary Novas Energy USA, Inc., through commercial application of a Plasma-Pulse Technology.

The Company's technology is designed to be suitable for oil wells as deep as 12,000 feet. Novas's Plasma-Pulse Treatment is an Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) technology and process. The treatment uses no chemicals.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By James E. Brumley]

While the ongoing implosion of crude oil prices has put high-profile names like Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE:CHK) and Linn Energy LLC (NASDAQ:LINE) in the limelight - and the hot seat - all the noise surrounding those and other names may have distracted investors from looking at the oil rout in an opportunistic light rather than through the panic-colored glasses that have proven so damaging to the likes of LINE and CHK. Rather than fret over how difficult life was going to be for Linn Energy, Chesapeake Energy, and all their peers now that the price of oil was at or below the cost of drilling for it, investors should have been looking at companies that make drilling for oil cheaper and more cost-effective. Enter Propell Technologies Group Inc. (OTCBB:PROP).

  • [By John Udovich]

Although oil prices ended the year at multi year lows, now would be the time to take a closer look at small cap gas compression or enhanced oil recovery (EOR) stocks like Usa Compression Partners LP (NYSE: USAC), CSI Compressco LP (NASDAQ: CCLP) and Propell Technologies Group Inc (OTCBB: PROP) before oil and gas prices inevitably rise again. To begin with, natural gas compression services are used to transport natural gas and specifically to ge! t natural gas from low-pressure wells into gathering systems, storage and processing facilities as well as to maintain production as reservoir pressure declines. Compression services are also used to extract gas from unconventional natural gas sources like shale plays. Meanwhile, so-called enhanced oil recovery or EOR is just a generic term for the techniques used for increasing the amount of crude oil that can be extracted from an oil field with potential methods including steam flood and water flood injection or hydraulic f racturing (so-called fracking). Naturally, demand for compression services and EOR technologies would be impacted by oil and gas commodity prices.

Hot Restaurant Stocks To Buy Right Now

Even though it is, and will probably always be, the world's largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants in the world, the forecast for this company's growth has started to look a little bleak, writes MoneyShow's Jim Jubak, also of Jubak's Picks.

McDonald's (MCD) customers are getting squeezed and so, therefore, is McDonald's.

For the third quarter, comparable store sales grew by just 0.7% in the United States. That's down from 1% comparable store sales growth in the second quarter. Global comparable sales climbed by 0.9%. Wall Street had been expecting 1% growth.

McDonald's did beat analyst earnings estimates of $1.52 a share by a penny, but that wasn't enough to offset a rather gloomy forecast for growth. In October, the company said it expects flat comparable store sales. The shares finished down 0.64% at the close on October 21.

In the United States, new menu items such as pumpkin-spice lattes and Mighty Wings didn't draw enough new spending to offset the company's need to focus on value pricing, as lower income customers continue to cut their spending. The problem seems to be worse, though, than at competitors. Wall Street analysts project that McDonald's will grow revenue by just 2.4% in 2013, compared to the National Restaurant Association's estimate of 4.9% growth for the US quick-service dining sector.

Restaurant chains are trying to hold the line on prices. Mark Allison, senior vice president of culinary operations at Chanticleer Holdings (HOTR), which operates the American Roadside Burger chain, said his chain raised prices about 12%, even though their beef costs are up even more than that.

  • [By Konrad Kuhn]

Chanticleer Holdings (HOTR), a franchisee of international Hooters restaurants, has exploded through its upside target prices; however, in our view, the stock has a long way to go, as it expands its restaurants abroad, and in the US.

Hot Restaurant Stocks To Buy Right Now: Arcos Dorados Holdings Inc (ARCO)

Arcos Dorados Holdings Inc., incorporated on December 9, 2010, is a McDonald franchisee. As of December 31, 2010, the Company operated or franchised 1,755 McDonald-branded restaurants, which represented 6.7% of McDonald total franchised restaurants globally. It operates McDonald-branded restaurants under two different operating formats, Company-operated restaurants and franchised restaurants. As of December 31, 2010, of its 1,755 McDonald-branded restaurants in the territories, 1,292 (or 74%) were Company-operated restaurants and 463 (or 26%) were franchised restaurants. It generates revenues from two sources: sales by Company-operated restaurants and revenues from franchised restaurants, which consist of rental income, which is based on the greater of a flat fee or a percentage of sales reported by franchised restaurants. As of December 31, 2010, it owned the land for 510 of its restaurants (totaling approximately 1.2 million square meters) and the buildings for all but 12 of its restaurants. Company-Operated and Franchised Restaurants

The Company operates its McDonald-branded restaurants under two basic structures: Company-operated restaurants operated by the Company and franchised restaurants operated by franchisees. Under both operating alternatives the real estate location may ! either be owned or leased by the Company. It owns, fully manages and operates the Company-operated restaurants and retains any operating profits generated by such restaurants, after paying operating expenses and the franchise and other fees owed to McDonald under the Master Franchise Agreements (MFAs). In Company-operated restaurants, it assumes the capital expenditures for the building and equipment of the restaurant and, if it owns the real estate location, for the land as well. Under its franchise arrangements, franchisees provide a portion of the capital required by initially investing in the equipment, signs, seating and decor of their restaurants, and by reinvesting in the business over time. It is required by the MFAs to own the real estate or to secure long-term leases for franchised restaurant sites. It subsequently leases or subleases the property to franchisees.

In exchange for the lease and services, franchisees pay a monthly rent to the Company, based on the greater of a fixed rent or a certain percentage of gross sales. In addition to this monthly rent, it collects the monthly continuing franchise fee, which generally is 5% of the United States dollar equivalent of the restaurant gross sales, and pays these fees to McDonald pursuant to the MFAs. However, if a franchisee fails to pay its monthly continuing franchise fee, it remains liable for payment in full of these fees to McDonald. As of December 31, 2010, it was engaged in several joint ventures, which collectively owned 24 restaurants, in Argentina, Chile and Colombia.

Restaurant Categories

The Company classifies its restaurants into one of four categories: freestanding, food court, in-store and mall stores. In-store restaurants are part ! of a larg! er building and resemble freestanding restaurants, except for the lack of a drive-through area. Mall stores are located in malls like food court restaurants, but have their own seating areas. As of December 31, 2010, 808 (or 46.2%) of its restaurants were freestanding, 359 (or 20.5%) were food court, 265 (or 15.1%) were in-stores and 319 (or 18.2%) were mall stores. Internationally, Jamba still has a small presence, but it made a big step by making a master franchise development agreement to open 80 stores throughout Mexico beginning later this year. The success that Arcos Dorados (NYSE: ARCO  ) has had in Mexico and other Latin American countries in franchising McDonald's (NYSE: MCD  ) locations shows the huge potential that the region has generally for American restaurants, and focusing on warmer climates should help Jamba avoid the seasonality it suffers colder markets like the U.S. and Canada.

christianz1969/Flickr Americans lately have been transferring their love of fast-casual restaurant food to stocks of companies in the segment. Late last month, "better burger" specialist The Habit Restaurants (HABT) launched an initial public offering that doubled in price within hours of hitting the market. Like a meal from one of The Habit's more traditional fast-food rivals, though, the feeling of satisfaction didn't last: The shares started to drop after the initial euphoria. But that isn't stopping other fast-casual operators from listing on the exchange. They're finding, though, what works in the kitchen isn't necessarily successful on the market. IPOh Yes IPOs of fast-casual chain operators are coming to the market faster than you can get a refill at a soda machine. This year alone has seen the market debut not only of The Habit, but also the Mediterranean-flavored Zoe's Kitchen (ZOES) and West Coast chicken griller El Pollo Loco Holdings (LOCO), among others. Like The Habit, the stocks of the latter two saw impressive first-day rises (although they didn't pop quite as high as those of the burger purveyor). Why the excitement? Some of it can certainly be ascribed to the IPO market itself, which has had a frothy year. As of this writing, 262 companies have gone public, a 25 percent rise over the same period of 2013. In terms of total proceeds from IPOs, 2014 is set to be the best year for at least the past decade. Building a Better Burrito But likely a bigger factor is that the fast-casual segment has one great model that investors are hoping the newcomers can at least partially replicate -- Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG). Since going public in 2006, the stock of the now-ubiquitous chain has gone through the roof. Its IPO was priced at $22 a share and doubled in its first day of trading. Since then, its shares have ballooned -- at the moment, they trade at nearly $660, for a hard-to-believe 2,900-plus-percent rise from the issue price. It's not t

Top 5 Life Sciences Stocks To Buy For 2014

Investors in Danaher (NYSE: DHR  ) saw the company deliver a disappointing set of second-quarter results that caused the stock to drop notably. In fact, as of today, it's pretty much flat on a six-month basis. In truth, the results weren't that bad: The midpoint of full-year generally accepted accounting principles earnings per share guidance was actually raised by a couple cents as management narrowed its guidance to $3.67-$3.72 from $3.60-$3.75.

However, the market obviously expected more, and certain elements of the company's performance surprised on the downside. Danaher reports out of five segments: industrial technologies, environmental (mainly water quality), dental, life sciences and diagnostics, and test and measurement. This kind of diversification normally means that the company is broadly exposed to the industrial economy, and management's commentary certainly reflected a moderately growing environment. With that said, here are five things management wants you to know about the quarter.

  • [By Jonas Elmerraji]

It's been a solid year for Thompson Reuters (TRI); since the calendar flipped over to January, this $30 billion financial media firm has rallied more than 22%. But don't worry if you've missed out on the move -- TRI looks well-positioned for higher levels thanks to the pattern that's been setting up in shares.

Thompson Reuters is currently forming an ascending triangle pattern, a bullish setup that's formed by horizontal resistance above shares at the $35.50 level and uptrending support to the downside. Basically, as TRI bounces in between those two technically-important price levels, it's getting squeezed closer and closer to a confirmed breakout above that $35.50 price level. When the breakout happens, it's time to be a buyer.

TRI closed above the $35.50 level in yesterday's session, but it's a little early to call it a breakout just yet. If shares can hold above that breakout level all through today's session, then the buy signal is worth heeding.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By George Acs]

Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.A) released its earnings this past Thursday and the market found nothing to commend. On the other hand, the price drop was appealing to me, as it's not every day that you see a 5% price drop in a company of this caliber. For your troubles it is also likely to be ex-dividend during the August 2013 option cycle. While there is still perhaps 8% downside to meet its 2 year low, I don't think that will be terribly likely in the near term. Big oil has a way of thriving, especially if we're at the brink of economic expansion.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- A handful of the world's biggest oil companies plotted with Morgan Stanley (MS) and energy traders to manipulate Brent crude spot prices for more than a decade, four veteran traders allege in a class-action suit filed in a federal court last month, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday. The lawsuit alleges that oil companies, including BP PLC (UK:BP) (BP) , Statoil ASA (NO:STL) (STO) and Royal Dutch Shell (UK:RDSA) (UK:RDSB) (RDS.A) conspired with Morgan Stanley and energy traders including Vitol Group, Trafigura Beheer BV and Phibro Trading LLC to artificially drive up or down the Dated Brent spot price by submitting false information to Platts, an energy news and price publisher, the report said. Phibro told Bloomberg that it hadn't been served in the lawsuit and said the claims were without merit. Bloomberg said that representatives of Shell, Vitol, Trafigura, Morgan Stanley and BP declined to comment on the suit.
